A former Ayrshire pub is to be transformed into a funeral parlour.

Permission has been granted for the use of the former New Cumnock Homing Social Club to be changed to allow a funeral directors to take over.

Alexander Muir Funeral Directors have been granted permission to erect a garage at the site on Castlemains Avenue in the town.

The applicant has also been allowed to block up a number of windows and replace existing windows too.

Mr Muir can also add a ramp to the front entrance with the 10x10 metre garage at the rear of the building.

The two-floor building will have three meetings rooms, a coffin prep area, service hall, GP room, staff lounge, kitchen, male and female WCs, plant room, wash room and a chilled cold store.

East Ayrshire Council planners approved the plan to change the use of the former public house to a funeral parlour with a number of conditions last week.
