Former Auchinleck Talbot and Darvel ace Calvin Kemp urged to kick start career back at Kilwinning Rangers

Chris Strain admits he’s taken a risk by bringing Calvin Kemp back to Kilwinning Rangers.

But he insists the talented 23-year-old forward can kick start his Junior career with the Buffs if he screws the nut.

Kemp returns to the club for a third stint after a short ill-fated spell at Darvel.

Strain admits Kemp has had 'off-the-field' issues but is confident he can finally realise his potential under his guidance.

“Calvin is a hometown boy and he’s very keen to succeed here,” said Strain.

“It didn’t work out at Darvel and he got a bit disillusioned. He’s made a few mistakes off the field but I’m willing to take a risk on him.

“His ability isn’t in question and at 23 he still has bags of potential.

“He’s assured me won’t let me down.

“We worked well together last time round and if he sticks in he will do fine.”

Buffs are due to face Kirkintilloch Rob Roy away in the league this weekend and Strain is praying the game beats the weather.

He added: “They’ve struggled to get games on recently and the forecast isn’t too promising but we want to get back to playing.”
