Former Aston Villa hero fires warning shot at Leeds United but gives Bristol City hope

Paul Merson believes Bristol City still have a decent shout of making the play-offs.

The Robins trail sixth-placed Derby County by four points with two games to go, meaning tonight's match against Millwall is a must-win.

Merson, who played over 100 times for Aston Villa, said this uncertainty over the final play-off spot could well impact Leeds United's own ambitions.

Leeds United join Bristol City and Reading in race for bargain League Two hotshot formerly of Birmingham City

"Villa and West Brom sort of know each other they are going to be playing each other, Leeds won’t have a clue who they are playing yet," he said on Sky Sports.

"Because there are three teams, they have got to wait to literally the last day of the season to know if it’s going to be Bristol City, Derby or Middlesbrough."
