Former Arsenal winger names the three managers the Gunners should go after to replace Unai Emery

Former Arsenal winger Perry Groves has identified the three managers he would like to see the club move for following Unai Emery's dismissal.

The Gunners suffered a 2-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday evening to extend their winless streak to seven matches in all competitions, which represents their worst run of form in over 25 years.

That left Emery's position with the club as untenable and Arsenal confirmed the departure of the Spaniard after 18 months in charge, putting the club on the hunt for their second manager since Arsene Wenger's departure.

Plenty of names are being touted to take charge at the Emirates Stadium, with Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo the early favourite for the position and Groves has named two other candidates he wants to see the club move for.

“At least with Nuno Espirito Santo, Arsenal will have an identity and they will have a philosophy. He plays three at the back, he has his full-backs pushing on, he plays two up front with Jimenez and Jota. If he brings Ruben Neves with him as well, then happy days," he told TalkSport.

“For me, there’s three. I would take Brendan Rodgers, you’d go all out to get him no matter how much he cost. We’re a bigger club, of course he’d want to leave Leicester because you’re backed by the board, and they did back Unai Emery in the summer with the money.

"Leicester are a very well run club but they’re not one of the big six clubs. Brendan Rodgers, I think has something to prove with one of the big clubs, which Arsenal are.

“The others are Nuno Espirito Santo or Mauricio Pochettino. Why wouldn’t you try to get Pochettino?”
