Former Arsenal star Serge Gnabry names four ex-Gunners teammates in his dream XI

Former Arsenal star Serge Gnabry has named four ex-Gunners teammates in his dream XI of players he has played alongside.

The Bayern Munich winger is very much regarded as 'the one that got away' around the Emirates after he failed to make a permanent breakthrough before going on to bigger and better things in Germany.

Gnabry was famously snubbed by Tony Pulis during a loan spell at West Brom but has since featured heavily in Bayern's recent success.

So it's hardly surprising to see the 25-year-old fill his XI with no fewer than seven of his current colleagues at the Allianz Arena when choosing his dream team for Bundesliga.com.

Gnabry opted not to include himself in the side, instead picking a front three consisting of FIFA Best Player of the Year for 2020 Robert Lewandoswki, ex-Man City winger Leroy Sane, and Bayern talent Kingsley Coman.

He also selected Manuel Neuer in goal, as well as Alphonso Davies and Niklas Sule in defence, with Joshua Kimmich in midfield.

Making up the line-up from his Arsenal days are defenders Laurent Koscielny and Hector Bellerin as well as midfielders Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil.

Gnabry has also had spells at Werder Bremen and Hoffenheim but no players from either side made the XI.

Explaining his decisions, he referred to Koscielny as a "machine in the tackle", while Bellerin was picked because he "gives a lot of assists" and has "unbelievable speed" - though the Spaniard is not the quickest star in Arsenal's current crop.

He described Cazorla as being "unreal" with both feet, but reserved his best praise for compatriot Ozil.

“As a fellow attacker, I really appreciate the qualities he [Ozil] has on the ball,” Gnabry said. “I appreciate his eye for his teammates and how dangerous he is in front of goal. But it’s the through-balls he can play that just do it for me. I’d have him as a No.10”
