Here is the Arsenal morning digest for Tuesday, November 3.
Merson makes Partey transfer claim
Paul Merson believes Thomas Partey has already proven to be the best signing of the summer in the Premier League.
Partey, 27, joined Arsenal on deadline day after the club decided to trigger the £45 million release clause in his Atletico Madrid contract.
The midfielder has made only four appearances for the Gunners this season, but it is enough to leave Merson delighted with his arrival.
"I think Partey's a massive, massive difference. I mean, what a signing," Merson told Sky Sports.
"When you talk about signings in the summer, he's got to be number one. I cannot believe, without being horrible here, that Arsenal got him.
"I don't mean that in a horrible way, they're all crying out for it - I know Manchester United are top-heavy and they've got Fred, [Scott] McTominay and [Nemanja] Matic, but they haven't got a Partey."
"Manchester City too, Fernandinho's coming towards the end, Rodri hasn't really pulled up any trees," Merson continued. "You're thinking 'wow, who didn't see this?'
"When you're talking about holding midfield players and you want discipline, there's no better place for discipline than Atletico Madrid. They play the ultimate disciplined way."
Elneny continues to prove Emery wrong
It was a landmark moment for Arsenal on Sunday as they ended a 14-year wait for a win against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
A second-half penalty from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang separated the two sides, but it was a strong performance from the entire Arsenal team.
And in the heart of the midfield alongside Partey was Mohamed Elneny. The former Basel midfielder joined the club in 2016 but found himself out of favour under Mikel Arteta’s predecessor Unai Emery.
“Under Emery, I was not playing much, that is why you can lose your confidence and your feeling to play," Elneny said.
"That is why when I went to Besiktas, on a one-year loan, I played always and brought the confidence back, and when I came back here I saw everyone happy for me to come back."
Elneny has seized the opportunity of a second-chance at Arsenal and proved Emery wrong in the process.
How Arsenal's dressing room celebrated the win over Man United
Arsenal’s players enjoyed a historic win against Manchester United that was 14 years in the making.
A penalty from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang helped the Gunners beat a top-six side away from home for the first time in 29 attempts.
Understandably, many of the players shared their delight on social media post-match, and there was even a post from the exiled Mesut Ozil.
Mikel Arteta was full of praise for his side after the full-time whistle, praising their identity and shape during the win.
"I think we merited the points," said the Spaniard. "I'm really happy that after 14 years without a win, we were able to come and do what we've done."
