Former Arsenal star Jens Lehmann delivers his verdict on Bayern Munich ahead of Tottenham clash

It is a big night in Europe for Tottenham Hotspur as they host Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Spurs will welcome the Bundesliga champions to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for their second match in Group B tonight (Tuesday), with the two sides having contrasting fortunes in the first week of matches in the competition.

Bayern Munich recorded a comfortable 3-0 win against Red Star Belgrade, while Spurs threw away a two-goal advantage in Greece as they drew 2-2 with Olympiacos.

But former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann believes it could be a difficult game for Spurs against a Bayern Munich side sitting top of the league in Germany with an unbeaten record after six games.

And he has sent a warning to Spurs about what to expect from the Bundesliga leaders, who sit top of the group after the opening round of matches.

“With Bayern you never know. Last year they lost to Liverpool and it was a very disappointing match," he said.

“This time they start the season really well and they have more options going forward.

“Defensively, they have lost [Mats] Hummels, but they are still solid and Manuel Neuer has come into form again.

“So I think this time Bayern Munich can really compete with them and they have a good chance to win against Spurs.”
