Former Arsenal loanee Denis Suarez leaves Barcelona for Celta Vigo in £13.4million transfer

Former Arsenal loanee Denis Suarez has left Barcelona, signing for Celta Vigo in a £13.4million deal.

The midfielder played four times for the Gunners in 2018-19 after joining on a temporary basis from the Catalan giants.

But it was a largely disappointing spell in north London and he will now leave the Blaugrana permanently in a bid to relaunch his career.

Celta will pay £11.5million up front with a further £1.9million in add-ons to their domestic rivals.

Suarez came through the youth ranks at Celta before signing for Manchester City in 2011.

He penned a four-year deal at Barca in 2013 and spent the 2014-15 season on loan at Sevilla.

Suarez then joined Villarreal in 2015 but stayed only one season before Barca triggered the buyback clause in his contract.

In all, he made 71 appearances for Barcelona, scoring eight goals.

He won two La Liga crowns, two Copa del Rey titles and two Spanish Super Cups.

In a statement, Barcelona said: "FC Barcelona and Celta Vigo have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player. Denis Suárez. The Galician team will pay FC Barcelona €12.9m euros plus €3.1m in add-ons.

"FC Barcelona would like to thank Denis Suárez for his commitment and dedication, and wishes him every success in the future."
