Former Arsenal chief Alisher Usmanov admits he is prepared to invest in Everton

Uzbeki billionaire Alisher Usmanov has hinted that he could invest in Everton due to his close links with Toffees majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri.

Usmanov, who built his wealth through metal and mining operations, is known to be a fan of Arsenal , and acquired a stake in the club in 2007.

He also has links with Everton, however, and his company USM Holdings have sponsored the training ground for three years.

As of last summer they have also become their Official Matchday Presenting Partner, and their MeganFon logo is present around Goodison Park and on the sleeve of the player's training tops.

With the Merseyside club planning a new 52,000 seater stadium it would be appear to be a suitable time for Usmanov to invest further in the club, and speaking to the Financial Times he admitted he was considering his options.

When asked about joining Moshiri at Everton he responded: "Yes. With great pleasure, if he asks.

"I am thinking about my investment in this club. I cannot reject Arsenal. I will not leave them as a fan. But if I join Everton, then I will wear an Everton shirt, because I am a professional.

"They are going to build a new stadium. Why not the USM Arena? It is not obligatory for me to participate myself. I could just sponsor them."

Everton recently confirmed the appointment of legendary manager Carlo Ancelotti, and that news along with the suggestion of an investment from Usmanov mean it is an exciting time to be a Toffees fan.

They have won two out of three games since Ancelotti took over, but suffered a setback on Wednesday with a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City .

They take on bitter rivals Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday before hosting Brighton in the Premier League next weekend.
