Former Arsenal and Celtic striker John Hartson calls Kieran Tierney 'future captain'

John Hartson says Kieran Tierney will one day become captain of Arsenal.

Like Tierney, Hartson has played for both Arsenal and Celtic, and he believes fans of the English Premier League side are beginning to see how good the left-back is.

Tierney, who is currently preparing for Scotland's Nations League double-header against Israel and the Czech Republic, has won the FA Cup and Community Shield with Arsenal this summer. He was also voted Player of the Month for June by the club's fans.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Hartson said: "He was outstanding at Celtic for many a year, played a lot of European games. Champions League games, picked up trebles and trophies. He’s clearly a winner.

"I think the Arsenal fans and a lot of people that are watching the English Premier League needed a little bit of time to realise how good this kid is. He’s an outstanding player, he gets forward, he’s got an FA Cup winner’s medal under his belt, a Community Shield medal.

"Initially he was injured and was in and out a little bit with his groin, he couldn’t quite find his best form.

"But now that he’s settled he’s a future Arsenal captain for me, 100 per cent."

Hartson played 71 times for Arsenal and made 201 appearances for Celtic, scoring 17 goals for the English side and 109 in Scotland.
