Feb. 10--Former Major League Baseball outfielder Jim Edmonds has sold his home in Irvine for $6.775 million.
The Santa Barbara-style estate, on about an acre in the Shady Canyon area, spans three stories with beamed cathedral-style ceilings, wrought iron finishes and limestone.
Within the 10,000 square feet of living space are a game room, a movie theater, a wine cellar and a gym. Other areas include an open-space living room with a fireplace, a center-island kitchen, six bedrooms and seven bathrooms.
Inviting indoor-outdoor entertaining, rows of French doors open to expansive loggias and multiple terraces. A detached guest house, a cabana with an outdoor kitchen and a pool and spa make up grounds of about an acre.
The property returned to the market in October with an asking price of $6.95 million. The former Angels slugger previously asked as much as $7.999 million for the home, records show.
Jacqueline Thompson and Michelle Langston of Surterre Properties Inc. listed the home on behalf of Edmonds, with Thompson also representing the buyer in the sale, according to the Multiple Listing Service.
Edmonds, 44, spent the majority of his career with the Angels and Cardinals, earning eight Gold Glove awards and a World Series title (2006) across 17 seasons. He and his wife, Meghan King Edmonds, will appear on the upcoming season of Bravo's "Real Housewives of Orange County."
