Former Aldi worker reveals supermarket hacks that can save customers 75%

Aldi is a favourite supermarket for bargain hunters and those looking to save some cash.

The budget store has been said to be 'unbeatable' in a survey that highlighted that it's the cheapest supermarket in Britain.

While many Aldi shoppers are excited to share their SpecialBuy and middle aisle finds, an ex staff member has revealed some trick that shoppers might not know.

According to the DailyStar, a former Aldi worker has shared some tricks of the trade that can even help shoppers get money off their shop.

They even explained why the budget supermarket won't offer 'buy one get one free'

When is the best time to get reduced items

According to the former staff, Aldi reduces its prices on food that’s on its last day of shelf life by 30 per cent before shops open and 75 per cent at the end of the day to stop food waste.

So those who get in during the last hour of the day get to bag the best bargains.

What's in the boxes on the shelf?

You may have noticed that Aldi food is kept in boxes when stacked on the shelves.

Well, it is done on purpose - to free up the staff.

If items were not in boxes then staff would need to spend hours unboxing and lining things up on the shelves which means paying for more employees. This would mean that prices would have to go up.

To keep expenses down, the staff simply open a box and shove it where it needs to be instead.

Why there are no BOGOFs

You won’t see the classic BOGOF discount in any Aldi stores apparently because instead the supermarket wants to give the lowest possible prices for its products every day.

For those who want deals then there is the super six fruit and veg offer as well as Specialbuys.

How you pronounce Aldi?

According to the Sun, the shop should be pronounced “Al-di” not “All-di” because the name comes from the words Albrect (the founders’ surname) and discount. So Al-Di.

There's a fact you can use in your Christmas quiz.
