A junior football coach from a major Canberra club pleaded guilty in the ACT Supreme Court to sexual offences against three boys.

Stephen James Porter, 51, appeared in court on Thursday via video link when he admitted to charges including maintaining a sexual relationship with a child under 12 and grooming.

Porter was a junior football coach at the Ainslie Football Club.

The offences took place over more than a decade from 2009 to 2020.

Even though he has admitted to the charges, Porter is still planning to dispute the facts of the case against him.

In earlier court documents, police alleged he had approached the parents of one of the victims to offer one-on-one private coaching, which was accepted.

He has been charged with being engaged in a relationship with the child that involved more than one sexual act between 2015 and 2018.

The court heard there will be a dispute about the number of occasions the offending occurred.

Porter is also charged with using a child under 12 to produce child exploitation material, and with possessing child exploitation material.

The most recent charges relate to grooming a young person for sex.

Porter will remain on bail until his disputed facts hearing in November.
