Former Aberdeen star claims Clyde fans racially abused him during Cove Rangers win

Clyde have launched an investigation after Cove Rangers star Shay Logan accused Bully Wee fans of racially abusing him during a League One meeting between the sides on Saturday.

The former Aberdeen defender took to social media to hit out at the supporters who he claims used disgusting monkey chants during the clash at Broadwood, which Cove won 1-0.

Logan told his followers last week that he will be recording the abuse he recieves during matches on a regular basis.

And following the game, which put Cove seven points clear of Montrose at the top of League One, Logan posted a list of abuse he says he received during the game and tweeted: “When you upset Clyde fans because your mum chose a black man #Kickitout #BlackandProud.”

He also added that one chant included: “Shay get back in your box you monkey.”

In his post he said: "Could be wrong here but monkeys normally stay in trees and cages. Well this little monkey rocked up to Clyde, brushed your team and took three points. #kickitout #Monkeysrule.”

A spokesman for Clyde FC said: “We are aware of the claims and will be looking into the incident.

“As a club, we don’t find these comments acceptable and we have launched an investigation into the matter.”
