A former Aberdeen goalkeeper is to stand for the Tory party in next month's general election .

Derek Stillie has launched his campaign to become a Conservative MP having played 27 times for the Pittodrie side between 1994 and 1999.

The 45-year-old struggled to nail down a first team spot and was on the bench when the Dons lifted the League Cup in the 1995/1996 season.

Currently the Ayr United goalie coach, Stillie will stand for Boris Johnson's party as the candidate for Central Ayrshire in the crunch poll on December 12.

Stillie also played for Dunfermline and Dundee United as well as English sides Wigan Athletic and Gillingham.
