The 49ers hosted another AAF player for a workout after the league folded in early April. Former San Diego Fleet offensive tackle Daniel Brunskill worked out for San Francisco according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area.
Brunskill is listed at 6-5, 260 pounds, and brings an intriguing background. He played college football at San Diego State as a tight end until his final season when he converted to tackle. The move came because of a personnel necessity for the Aztecs, not because Brunskill wasn’t a successful tight end. He earned an honorable mention All-Mountain West Conference nod after his junior season, and Pro Football Focus made him an honorable mention All-American that same year.
The Falcons signed Brunskill as an undrafted free agent in 2017. He was on their practice squad for two years before joining the AAF. Athleticism is a key on the 49ers’ offensive line, and Brunskill brings a ton of it because of his tight end background.
It makes sense the 49ers would search for offensive line depth given their lack of it up front. They may also aim to address it through the draft, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if they work out another lineman or two prior to the draft on April 25.
