Former 49ers RB Carlos Hyde signs with Seahawks

Former 49ers running back Carlos Hyde finally found a home after a long wait in free agency. Hyde is set to sign with the Seattle Seahawks, joining a long list of players who’ve played on both sides of the NFC West rivalry.

San Francisco selected Hyde with the No. 57 overall pick in the 2014 draft. The Ohio State product only had 83 carries as a rookie but scored four touchdowns while backing up Frank Gore. He was limited to seven games in his second season, then broke out in Year 3 with 988 yards and six touchdowns on 217 carries in 13 games. Injuries kept him from reaching the 1,000-yard mark for the first time.

His final season in the Bay Area came in head coach Kyle Shanahan’s first season. Hyde, even on a bad 49ers club, posted 938 yards and eight touchdowns in the first 16-game season of his career.

Hyde signed a three-year deal with the Browns during the 2018 offseason, and was traded to Jacksonville after six games in Cleveland. He finished the 2018 campaign with the Jaguars and signed with the Texans for the 2019 season. Hyde had his best season as a pro in Houston, piling up a career-high 1,070 yards and five touchdowns.

Now he’ll face the 49ers twice as a member of the Seahawks, a team he fared well against while playing in the NFC West. In six games vs. Seattle, Hyde averaged 5.24 yards per carry on 74 attempts.
