Former 49ers LB Patrick Willis confident Titans TE Delanie Walker will come back strong

Tennessee Titans tight end Delanie Walker has been very vocal about his ability to return this season at full capacity.

While Walker has plenty of confidence in himself, some analysts have had their doubts about the soon to be 35-year-old playing at the same level he once did after missing all but Week 1 of the 2018 season.

Some even went as far as to predict a need at the position and projected the Titans would draft a tight end in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

But there are just as many people betting on Walker as there are those against him.

One of these is former San Francisco 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis. Willis was a teammate of Walker’s when the two shared a sideline in San Francisco.

“He’s going to go out there and do his thing,” he told the Titans’ Jim Wyatt. “Delanie, that’s one person that if I had to put a lot of chips on, I’d bet on him every time. There’s something in him that makes him an amazing athlete, and he’s a great person as well. I have no doubt that he’s going to come back and be better than ever.”

Over his NFL career, Walker has recorded 483 receptions for 5,673 yards and 34 touchdowns.

Given Walker’s reliability in the past as one of the team’s only true star offensive targets, it’s hard to believe he would return to the field as anything else.
