Formby Bypass shut after Ford Focus rolls on to its side

A car flipped onto its side this morning while travelling on a busy bypass.

The car, a Ford Focus, was being drive northbound on the Formby Bypass when the car flipped.

Police were called to the scene at around 8.55am on Tuesday.

The driver managed to get himself out of the car before emergency services arrived at the scene. He appeared to be uninjured and was not needed to be taken away by an ambulance.

A Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) spokesperson told the ECHO : "Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called to Southport Road, Formby, on Tuesday 18 th January following reports of a collision.

"Crews were alerted at 9.02am and on scene at 9.09am. One fire engine attended.

"On arrival crews found one vehicle on its side on the northbound carriageway between the BP garage and Woodvale. The occupier of the vehicle was out when fire crews arrived.

"No further action was required from MFRS and fire crews left the scene at 9.18am."

A Merseyside Police spokesperson: "We were called at 8.55am today to reports of an RTC on the Formby bypass in which a Ford Focus rolled over on its side.

"The driver of the car was able to remove himself from the vehicle but is not believed to be injured and an ambulance was not required."
