Forgotten Nottingham Forest striker sends message to teammate on return

Forgotten Nottingham Forest striker Nuno da Costa has sent a message of support to young teammate Will Swan on Instagram.

The 30-year-old set up a goal for Swan as a Forest XI ran out 2-1 winners against Alfreton Town in a pre-season friendly on Saturday afternoon.

Da Costa took to Instagram and posted a photo of him in action against Alfreton.

"Good to be back out there winning and with supporters," he wrote.

"Cool to assist my guy Will Swan."

Da Costa has only made 12 appearances for Forest since joining the club in 2019 and spent last season on loan at Royal Excel Mouscron in Belgium.

Brennan Johnson and Swan scored for Forest in the friendly, which was the fans' first chance to see their players in action since restrictions were first imposed in March 2020.

Speaking after the game, Forest boss Chris Hughton said: "It's our first game, so there's always going to be areas where we can do better, but more importantly, it's about getting 45 minutes on the pitch for each player and making sure everyone gets through unharmed.

"Pre-season is a good opportunity for some of the younger players and returning players to impress.

"It's a testing period for everyone, and it's about making sure that we are where we want to be by the end of this pre-season period.

"It was great to see the supporters for the first time, the fans were even here when we arrived at the stadium, which is something we've missed.

"They made themselves heard, and it was brilliant to see them."
