Forgotten Nottingham Forest striker Jason Cummings 'can't wait to bring the smile back'

He had something of a tough 2018/19, but it seems Nottingham Forest striker Jason Cummings is looking forward to the new campaign.

The 23-year-old will be back at the City Ground for pre-season training with the Reds this month, following loan spells at Peterborough United and Luton Town last term.

It remains to be seen whether he will have a future on the banks of the River Trent, given boss Martin O’Neill has spoken of his plans to trim a top-heavy squad.

But Cummings is clearly keen to get back on track, judging by his social media post.

The Scot posted pictures on Instagram of himself celebrating scoring for Forest , Luton, Posh and previous loan side Rangers – all using his trademark ‘Joker’ celebration.

Cummings has a tattoo on his right hand of a grinning smile, replicating that of Batman’s nemesis, which he raises to his mouth when he finds the back of the net.

He wrote: “Can’t wait to bring the smile back.”

The forward has struggled to make an impact in the Garibaldi since his move from Hibernian in the summer of 2017. In total, he has made 17 appearances for the Reds, scoring three goals.

He spent the second half of his first season at the club on loan at Rangers and was shipped out again last summer, being due to spend the campaign at Peterborough.

Although Cummings made a bright start to life at the Weston Homes Stadium, his form began to tail off and he hit the headlines for the wrong reasons in October, when footage emerged of him trashing his own flat.

His loan spell was cut short in January and he saw out the season with the Hatters, where he featured just five times, scoring once.
