Forgotten Manchester United striker James Wilson finds new club

Forgotten Manchester United striker James Wilson has rejoined Aberdeen following his release from the club.

He was on loan at the Dons last season and has decided to sign for the SPL side on a permanent basis, penning a two year deal.

Wilson left Old Trafford after initially arriving as a youngster in 2002 and rising through the ranks until he had played and scored for the first team.

He made his United debut for the club on May 6, 2014, and marked the occasion be scoring two fine goals in a 3-1 victory against Hull City.

The 23-year-old went on to score another two goals and made a total of 20 appearances, but a series of injuries hampered his progress and unsuccessful loan spells at Brighton, Derby, Sheffield United and Aberdeen did him no favours and he was released this summer.

"The place has not changed much since the month or two I have been away!" Wilson told the Aberdeen official website upon his return.

“I am delighted to come back and I am ready to get started again.

“Since the game at Easter Road I have not been up to much. I have kept myself fit but also enjoyed a bit of down time. I had to get my head round where I was going to be. I made the decision to come to Aberdeen for the next few years and I am delighted to be here.

“The main reason for coming back was how the players are brought into the changing room. It is a great place to be and the group of players are brilliant.

“I also really enjoy working with all the staff and the coaching staff and everyone behind the scenes at the club. I really don’t have a bad word to say about the place and that is why I am back here and why I turned down the other offers.

“It was an easy decision to make based on the memories I have made already."
