Leeds United youngster Rafa Mujica's immediate future looks uncertain with his loan spell away from LS11 set to be cut short.
The 22-year-old was sent out to his native Spain at the start of this season.
He joined second division outfit Real Oviedo - his third temporary spell away from Elland Road since arriving at Leeds in July 2019 - on a loan arrangement to cover the entire 2020/21 campaign.
But Mujica has barely featured for Oviedo, making three cameos off the bench. He has been an unused substitute in the last six games.
Spanish outlet Eldesmarque now report that Oviedo want to finish the deal early to free up funds and a place in the squad, but the decision is thought to be dependant on Leeds sanctioning an early end to the loan.
The Whites signed the 22-year-old from Barcelona B last year after he broke on the scene with the Spanish giant's second team.
He has since enjoyed loans at Spanish sides Extremadura UD and Villarreal B.
But his move to Oviedo has turned sour, barely halfway through the campaign.
Mujica previously spoke about his future last April and maintains a desire to make the breakthrough at Elland Road.
He said: "I have a contract there. I would like to go back and play with Leeds."
His Whites contract runs until 2022.
