Forgotten Leeds United forward confirms transfer away from club with conclusive Instagram post

Caleb Ekuban has seemingly confirmed his departure from Leeds United.

The forward isn't part of Marcelo Bielsa's plans and spent last season on loan at Trabzonspor.

He scored five goals in 29 appearances during his time in Turkey, sparking speculation over a permanent move.

The 25-year-old, who joined United from Chievo Verona in 2017, didn't negotiate a move before the English window shut on August 8, however, the European market remains open to trade until September 2.

Whilst there has been no official word from the club and talk has gone quiet, Ekuban himself seems to have confirmed a return to Trabzonspor.

After he had rejoined the Turkish side for their pre-season training campaign, the striker posted a picture on himself in their shirt and wrote: "All work done, preseason is over is time for the league.. to bring joy, happiness and also tears of course.. this is what we live for! Good league to everyone    .. it’s time    Here we go!     "

So, whilst we've not seen anything from Leeds, this is pretty conclusive.

Not much of a loss, considering the player had no future at Elland Road under Bielsa.

This comes after Victor Orta and his recruitment team made educing the wage bill with the sale of unwanted fringe players one of their priorities this summer.

Mallik Wilks, Tyler Denton, Paudie O'Connor, Tom Pearce and Aapo Halme are just a few examples of players that have departed for transfer fees, giving the club more room to breathe in regards to Financial Fair Play.

This is something that Bielsa himself has praised the club for, with United believed to have raised over £25m in player sales this summer.

Some of that has gone towards balancing the books, whilst a majority was put aside for Helder Costa's impending £15m transfer next summer.
