Forgotten Dingle family members who could soon return to Emmerdale

The family tree of Emmerdale's Dingle family is complicated, to say the least.

Zak is currently the Dingle patriarch, with his kids Cain, Belle and Sam Dingle all in the village, as well as his nieces Chas and Mandy. There's then the next generation, which includes Nate, Isaac, Kyle, Noah, Moses, Ryan, Sarah, Vinny and Samson, though they don't all carry the famous surname.

Many Dingles have come and gone over the years, with some appearing for a brief stint before moving on.

Even the biggest Emmerdale fans may struggle to remember them all. There are many more than viewers may realise, the Mirror reports.

There are currently dozens of Dingles off-screen that may have been forgotten about. Sadly a number have passed away, some off-screen and others in shocking twists on the ITV soap.

Let's start with Peg and Jedediah Dingle, the parents of Zak, Shadrach, Albert, Zebediah, Ezra and Caleb Dingle, both parents have been on the show in the past but are no longer. While their fates aren't really known, their children have also had appearances on the soap while they are not mentioned often.

Zak's brother Albert Dingle, married to Delilah Snr, is the father of current resident Marlon Dingle and former resident Eli Dingle, who left in 2010. Albert appeared between 1995 and 1997, before returning for a visit in 2004.

Then there's Zebediah, who is the father of Del Dingle, Job Dingle and Lilith Dingle. Lilith herself has sons named Luke, Matthew, Mark and Jon Dingle, and they all appeared at some point in the early 2000s.

While Del and Lilith have both been on the show, neither are in the village currently. Next up is Mandy Dingle's father Caleb, while her mother is Vera-Lynn Dingle. Caleb appeared in 2000.

Another sibling is Ezra, married to Gwen, who has two unnamed children. This means they are mystery cousins of Cain, Belle and Sam, and they could appear in future story-lines.

Emmerdale bosses are known for bringing back old, or even unheard of, family members. And with a number of key residents dying or otherwise leaving recently, this could well be on the cards in the near future.

Zak's cousin is Obadiah Dingle, who is the father of Charity Dingle, making her Zak's cousin. Obadiah appeared in 2018. There's more too, as Zak's ex-wife is Nellie Dingle, the mother of some of his existing and missing children on the show.

These include Nathan and Tina, and while Nathan has never appeared Tina did between 1994 and 1996 with many calls for her to return. The two, as well as Zak's late children Ben and Butch Dingle who both died on the show, are the siblings of Cain, Belle and Sam.

Elvis Dingle, husband of Marilyn Dingle, is another cousin of Zak's with the couple previously appearing briefly on the show - and they have two sons, named Brando and Daniel - Elvis appeared in 2002 and 2004.

Solomon Dingle, finally, is another cousin of Zak and his brothers, and brother to Elvis and Obadiah. He has four children, including Moses, Smudge, Adam and Mystic, and Solomon appeared in 2004.Other missing Dingles are the late Lisa, wife to Zak and mother to Belle, who died from a terminal heart condition in 2019.

Zak's brother Shadrach, father to Chas, died in 2010, while his daughter Gennie Walker was murdered by Cameron Murray in 2013.
