Forgotten Celtic ace Barkas 'set for exit after contract settlement'

Vasilis Barkas is reportedly set to depart Celtic this summer after a contract settlement with the club.

The keeper, 29, spent the second half of the season with FC Utrecht but the club could not afford a deal to sign him permanently.

It left a scenario where Barkas would return to Celtic with one year left on his current deal.

However, it is now reported by Greek outlet Sportime that Celtic and Barkas have agreed to split in the post-season.

Reports claim both parties have agreed a settlement of the contract with Barkas free to look for another club and Celtic not having to pay another year of his wages.

Official confirmation is thought to be in the pipeline.

It's reported that Barkas will now continue his career abroad - but not back in his homeland in Greece.
