Forget WiFi, thank the CSIRO for the Twistie

Our favourite tweet of the week comes from the CSIRO who delighted us with this fun Friday fact about everyone's top cheese-flavoured snack, Twisties.

"We were involved in the invention of Twisties. Twisties needed a complicated and special process. The initial machine "ruddy well didn't work. The inventor got in contact with us. We told him how to change the process to create the chip we all love".

Melbourne businessman Isador Magid is credited with inventing Twisties in the early 1950s, importing machinery from the US and then getting advice from the CSIRO to perfect the product.

Yes, they have us WiFi, but if not for the CSIRO we might have been left with "Straighties".
