Forget white – the pink lounger on John F. Kennedy and Jackie O's 1960s lawn taps into 2025's hottest outdoor furniture color trend

In 2025, yards are more than just outdoor spaces; they are extensions of the home. Accordingly, people are turning to characterful design to transform their gardens into beautiful spaces for relaxation and entertaining. This means the dawn of bolder colors on the lawn.

There is no better inspiration than the outdoor furniture at John F. Kennedy and Jackie Kennedy's summer home. A photograph captured in 1960 shows the American icons reading to their daughter on a pink floral lounger. This summer, we're following their lead.

According to our research, so are outdoor furniture trends. Google data shows that searches for ‘garden ornaments’ and ‘outdoor furniture’ have risen by 5,000% over the past year, indicating an increased interest in more colorful, striking outdoor spaces.

Bo Hellberg, CMO at Swedish outdoor furniture specialists, Grythyttan Stålmöbler, shares, '2025 will see us being bolder with colour and incorporating bright yet calming hues into our outdoor spaces. From soothing pinks, mellow yellows and rustic reds, these shades fit seamlessly into any outdoor space, be it the countryside or cityscape, while adding a touch of high design.'

Amid this landscape, it's no surprise that pink is emerging as one of the best colors for outdoor furniture. Here are our editors' picks for recreating the look at your own home.

Unless you are going for a full-on Barbiecore yard (no judgement if so), we recommend subtly incorporating pink into your garden space. As seen at the Kennedys' home, a little bit of this romantic color goes a long way.

I suggest selecting one or two pink accent pieces and surrounding them with white or tan furniture to keep the design muted. For instance, if you opt for a pink lounge chair and umbrella, ground them with a small wooden side table.

As the Kennedys' home demonstrates, it's all about balance.
