Forget The Tartan Craze – Selena Gomez’s Unorthodox And Delectably Kitsch Christmas Tree Is A New Way Of Playing With Retro Maximalism

Selena Gomez.

Heritage Christmases might be taking the world by storm this year (think bows, tartan, and all things traditional), but I can't stop thinking about kitschy vintage Christmas decor.

It's not for everyone, but I love the playful charm of retro ornaments. They have a familiar, nostalgic feel that's so fitting for this time of year, not to mention, they often come in rather unexpected (and charming) forms. While I'm not the only one loving retro decorations this year, I'm convinced that Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco's Christmas tree is the best take on the kitsch trend yet.

Featuring some of the best food-themed ornaments I've ever seen, their Christmas tree couldn't be more appetizing.

Selena and Benny's tree might be unconventional, but its playful charm is undeniable. Featuring a range of food-inspired ornaments, it's a lesson in decorating with a sense of fun. From a charcuterie board to a bagel that couldn't look more real, I've sourced similar ornaments that feel just as nostalgic and kitschy.

Designed by decorator friend Mindy Weiss, Selena's home is covered in nostalgic Christmas decor. Featuring two Christmas trees, one food-themed and the other a rather playful pink design, she's embraced the true spirit of Christmas.

Both her trees are show-stoppers, but the edible-inspired, non-traditional Christmas decor shines in all its kitschy glory. Practically every food you can think of features on Selena's tree, from a jar of pickles to a roast ham; it's a delightfully playful alternative to more familiar, heritage decorations like bows and baubles.

Selena's Christmas tree features an array of kitschy ornaments. While they're not for everyone, they evoke a playful nostalgia that couldn't be more inspiring for the holiday season.
