Forget Glastonbury Ayrshire has some top music festivals to choose from

If you were inspired by Stormzy's knockout performance at Glastonbury at the weekend and you now feel in the mood for some live music then you can make a date for some fantastic festivals taking place on your doorstep this summer.

This weekend why not head to Kelburn Castle this Friday, July 5.

Kelburn Garden Party

Friday, July 5 to July 8.

Celebrating its 10th year, the Kelburn Garden Party is known for its diverse and exciting music programme. Across seven unique stages scattered around this stunning glen you’ll encounter dance music, folk music, funk and disco, dub and jungle, alt-pop experimental excursions, a good dose of jazz and blues, and intriguing global sounds.

And all in this enchanting forest surrounding too and for those with kids heading to the Garden Party you can expect a music festival and adventure holiday rolled into one.

Soundwave Festival

Saturday, July 20 to Sunday, July 21, Rozelle Park, Ayr

This is the ultimate in tribute festivals with all of the acts performing being among the top tribute acts in the country. This music festival is also raising awareness and money for Marie Curie who provide care and support to those living with a terminal Illness and their families.

Bands include : Fu Fighters, Deacon Blues, Simple Minded, McFleetwood, Paul Thorpe as Elvis, Flash Tribute to Queen, The Stones Tribute to The Rolling Stones, Bowie, Hysteria Tribute to Def Leppard, The Jam’d, Springsteen's Sessions and Green Date.

K Fest Kilmarnock

Saturday, July 27

In its third year now K-Fest is all about new talent and acts from up and down the country performing in the town.

This year’s event will be held at The Strand from 4pm to 10pm and will feature Headliners Elephant Sessions supported by Anchor Lane, Twin Heart, Anna Sweeney, Kendama, Stara Zagora Music and rising star Lori Smith.

There will also be Busk Stop Sessions being held in the town centre every Saturday during July from 11am to 3pm.

The festival officially launches on Friday, July 26 at the Laigh Kirk with a free showcase entitled Anthems from Broadway and Beyond performed by the Loudoun Musical Society.

Sound on the Sand, Ardrossan

Saturday, August 2

This promises to be a fantastic festival, especially if the sun comes out for it. Taking place on Ardrossan Promenade, it will be a trip down memory lane as some of the big bands of the 80s and 90s get ready to rock doon the watter.

Bands confirmed are Hue & Cry, Hipsway, CAEZAR, The Dunwells, Chris Greig & The Merchants and The Best Bad Influence.

Tickets are available from ArdrossanMusicExperience and children aged under 16 get in for free if accompanied by an adult.

Millport Country and Western Music Festival, Isle of Cumbrae

August 30 to September 1

This year marks 25 years of this toe tapping festival which has gone from strength to strength, featuring country music artists from Scotland, across the UK, Ireland and the USA to become one of the most popular festivals on the West Coast of Scotland.

Four live music stages including Nashfield, Maverick Acoustic Venue, Cactus Jacks Marquee and even a dedicated line-dance venue and boasts 50 artists around the world.

Acts confirmed so far include Cam, Laura Oakes, Tommy McGuire, Sarah Jory and Sydney Devine.
