If you love having a spotless home but don't want to spend hours cleaning, you've probably considered investing in a Dyson, or if you already own one, wouldn't mind upgrading to a newer model.
Now is the time, as the super-powerful Dyson V15 Detect is discounted by a whopping $300, making this the lowest price it's been all year. As Homes & Gardens' resident vacuum tester, this is the only vacuum I use in my own home, so I'd jump on this deal before it's gone. The V15 is so good that it actually makes cleaning fun.
The best Dyson vacuums – AKA the most expensive Dysons – are among the most effective vacuum cleaners money can buy. But they're not cheap, costing around 2-3x as much as those from Shark and Bissell, making this limited-time deal truly worth snapping up.
The Dyson V15 Detect is at Its Lowest Price All Year
To put it simply, the Dyson V15 Detect is the best vacuum cleaner out of the 82 vacuums we've rigorously tested. With unparalleled suction, floorheads for different floor types, and a green laser that reveals dust you can't see, it is leagues beyond the competition, hence the usually high price tag.
What makes the Dyson V15 Detect stand tall above the rest is its beautiful balance of cleaning power and convenience. Its suction is as powerful as what you'd find in a huge, corded vacuum, yet somehow Dyson has packed this cleaning power into a cordless stick.
This means it's super lightweight (6.83 pounds), takes up hardly any storage space, and can be used with one hand for more focused cleaning tasks like stairs, cars, pet beds, and furniture.
That's usually the trade-off when opting for the best cordless vacuums: Convenience over ability. But the Dyson V15 Detect solves this by boasting both.
You can see just how powerful the suction is in my video of it in action, below, thanks to a green diode laser that reveals dust that your naked eye can't see. This is by no means a gimmick – I use it at home so that I know if the floor is genuinely clean. And every time I do, I'm surprised by how much dust lives down there without us knowing:
It's where the 'Detect' name comes from, along with the vacuum's floor sensors that automatically adjust the suction power depending on whether you're vacuuming carpets or hard floors, or if you're vacuuming high dust volumes.
It makes these adjustments in under a second and means you don't have to think about switching suction mode while cleaning. It does it all for you, saving unnecessary waste of battery in the process.
We test vacuums in our dedicated test center, a local pet shelter, and in our own homes to get a complete understanding of what they're capable of. After the thousands of hours of testing, not only is the Dyson V15 Detect our top pick, it's also our best vacuum for pet hair.
It vacuumed thick rugs and carpets as well as the best Miele vacuums, which are corded, canister vacuums with much larger motors. It's also so powerful that it revived an old dog bed to its original color, pulling away all the accumulated fur and dirt that had built up over the years.
The V15 Detect's Motorbar floorhead has anti-tangle vanes that, in the year that I've been using it, have never tangled with hair. I live with two people with long hair, and the Dyson has no issues vacuuming it up without hair wrap issues.
It's easy to empty with minimal dust blowback, it runs for up to 60 minutes, and it comes with a wall mount if you want it to take up minimal space in storage. Forget Black Friday, this is the only vacuum deal worth shopping this year.

Also on offer and costing $150 less than the Dyson V15 Detect, the Dyson V11 is a fantastic alternative. It still has incredibly high suction that was near-flawless on test, but it doesn't have the green laser or floor sensors that make the V15 Detect so expensive. If you don't need those, I'd save the money.

You can save even more money by shopping for one of the best Shark vacuums instead. The PowerDetect doesn't have Dyson-level suction, but it's only a slight decrease in power compared to what is a huge decrease in cost. It has a dual brushroll too, so if you're looking to spend less time cleaning, you won't have to swap out the floorheads as you pass from carpet to hard floor (as you do with the Dysons).

The Shark POWERDETECT Upright is the other best vacuum cleaner we've tested. Both the Shark and the Dyson V15 Detect clean flawlessly, except the Shark is a large, corded vacuum, whilst the Dyson is a cordless stick. It has a much larger dustbin and cleaning path, so I'd recommend it for larger homes with more mess.

The Gen5detect has all the same features as the V15 Detect, but has even higher suction power (280 air watts compared to the V15's 240). I usually don't recommend it because of its eyewatering price, but if you're not on a budget, you won't find better.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, this budget cordless vacuum is more than enough if you don't have any rugs or carpets in your home. It also has a green laser, which is the closest I've seen to Dyson-level performance when revealing hidden dust.

The Yeedi S14 Plus is our current best robot vacuum, so if you're on the hunt for devices that will transform your home cleaning, it's worth considering one that will clean for you. It vacuums, mops, and cleans itself to an exceptional level.
