Forever to Three: Dawg fans plan to participate in Gamecocks’ new tradition

Georgia football fans have been in the headlines all season. From taking over Vanderbilt Stadium during Labor Day Weekend, to pinking out Sanford Stadium for Wendy Adams, and even attempting to checker Neyland, the Dawgs cannot keeps themselves out of the news.

Now, it’s time for a new movement, for yet another great cause. South Carolina quarterback Ryan Hilinksi lost his brother Tyler to suicide in 2018, before the former Washington State quarterback was found to have stage one chronic traumatic encephalopathy, also known as CTE.

One year later, Ryan is starting for the Gamecocks, after a season-ending injury to senior quarterback Jake Bentley. A true freshman starting under center in Columbia, the former four-star has already gained plenty of support, while wearing his brother’s No. 3 to honor his legacy.

Per Chip Towers of the AJC, South Carolina fans pay respects to the Hilinski family at every home game by holding up three fingers during and after the first play of the third quarter to draw attention to suicide awareness and support for Hilinski’s Hope, a fundraising initiative that seeks “to educate, advocate and destigmatize mental illness.”

Georgia fans plan to participate in this newly created tradition, helping raise awareness, while supporting our friends down I-20.

Join the Dawg Nation in this movement, by putting three fingers up in the air at the start of the third quarter. You don’t have to find a special shirt or dress this weekend, so we fully expect everyone to participate.

Let’s show the country how great of a fan base we can be and support this cause. If you are interested in donating, a charity has been created called Hilinskishope.
