Forestside crash leads to woman being treated at the scene

A woman in her 70s has been taken to hospital following a car accident at Forestside Shopping Centre in South Belfast.

The two-vehicle collision was reported shortly before 3pm this afternoon, after a red Peugeot ended up on top of a red Mini Cooper at the entrance to the car park.

Three fire appliances attended and assisted with removing the woman from the top car.

Her injuries are not believed to be serious and she was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

It is unclear what caused the incident at this time.

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue service said: "Firefighters attended a 2 vehicle road traffic collision. A woman in her 70’s was trapped in the vehicle and removed by Firefighters using hydraulic cutting equipment. She was taken to hospital by Ambulance.  The incident was dealt with at 3.45pm."
