A schoolboy is in a critical condition after being stabbed in southeast London.
The teenager was attacked in Forest Hill at around shortly after school ended on Monday afternoon. Witnesses said he was stabbed several times in the street.
Police and the London Ambulance Service attended and he was taken to hospital.
Labour MP for Lewisham West and Penge Ellie Reeves tweeted: “Extremely sorry to hear about the stabbing on Dartmouth Road SE23 this afternoon. I am in close contact with the police and my thoughts are with the victim who I hope has a speedy recovery from this terrible act.”
Michael Sullivan, the headteacher at Forest Hill School confirmed that the boy was a Year 11 student.
“He is currently being treated in hospital and our thoughts are with his family at this very worrying time,” Mr Sullivan told the News Shopper newspaper. “We will make arrangements in school tomorrow to ensure the boys affected by this sad incident are appropriately supported.”
The Metropolitan Police said in a statement that there had been no arrests and the investigation continues.
“Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a male – believed aged 15 – suffering injuries. He was taken to a south London hospital where he remains in a critical condition," it added.
It comes three days after 17 year-old Abdirashid Mohamoud was chased and stabbed to death in Isleworth, west London.
