'Forest have been a bit of a charity' - Middlesbrough fans on relegation threat and Reds

Nottingham Forest are primed and ready to continue their promotion charge at the Riverside Stadium on Monday night – where they face a Middlesbrough side in danger of relegation.

Managed by former Real Madrid defender Jonathan Woodgate, the Teessiders are fourth bottom of the Championship standings.

By the time they welcome Forest to town, though, with the Sky Sports cameras lurking, they could be in the relegation zone as the rest of the division get ready for action tomorrow afternoon.

After suffering three defeats on the spin, some fans are questioning whether or not Woodgate is the right man for the job moving forward, with League One football a real possibility next season.

Here is a selection of comments made on the One Boro forum;

Maccarone said: “Let’s get back to playing the young lads, it can’t be any worse. It’s gone horribly wrong since the so-called experienced players have come back. The out of contract players at the end of the season aren’t interested or good enough anymore and should not be offered new contracts. Let’s start afresh, what we have simply isn’t good enough.”

Grimsby Boro posted: “Regardless of what division we are in, we can look forward to a summer rebuild safe in the hands of those that brought us Bola, Browne, Bikey and Nmecha! If we don’t go down this season, it’s only prolonging the inevitable.”

WilsonCGP added: “If we were to sack him (Woodgate), I would rather replace him with someone who we actually wants to manage our club in the long term. If they’re good enough, they’ll get us out of this mess this season.”

Weasel said: “Forest can’t break down teams who sit back and let them attack. It’s happened to them so many times this season and that’s how we should aim to play, on the counter attack. Maybe we’ll somehow fluke a draw or a win, because Forest have been a bit of a charity to struggling teams this season.”

Southern Smoggie posted: “Woodgate might as well start the players who will still be playing for him in League One – if he’s staying.”

Pokey Joe added: “The worrying thing is from my point of view is that we aren’t even seeing ‘shop window’ performances from the lads running their contracts down. We just don’t look like a battling team that is up for the fight.”
