Forest Gate stabbing: Man fighting for life after being knifed in broad daylight in east London

A young man is fighting for life in hospital after being repeatedly knifed in broad daylight in east London, police said.

Police and the London Ambulance Service raced to Field Road, Forest Gate, at about 2.15pm to reports of a stabbing.

The victim, a 26-year-old man, was rushed to hospital where he remains in a critical condition, police said.

Officers confirmed a man was arrested on suspicion of GBH at the scene and he is in custody at hospital.

The stabbing is the latest knife related offence in the last two days, after a 51-year-old father was fatally stabbed in front of his son on a train to London from Guildford.

Lee Pomeroy had been heading to the capital for some “quality time” with his son, devastated relatives said.

A 35-year-old man was arrested at an address in the Farnham area on suspicion of murder, the British Transport Police (BTP) said.

A 27-year-old woman was also taken into custody on suspicion of assisting an offender.
