Forensic teams attended the scene of an assault early this morning.
Police were called to reports of an attack, on Gaskell Street, St Helens at around 4.10am on December 27.
It understood the attack was between two men.

A man sustained minor injuries as a result of the assault and a forensic team were called to the scene to carry out a search.
Merseyside Police confirmed one man was arrested at the scene.
Gaskell Street, in the Parr area of St Helens, sits close to the Totally Wicked Stadium, home of the St Helens Rugby League team.
