Forensics officers carry bags of evidence from flat after 'unexplained death'

Forensic officers could be seen carrying bags of evidence from a house in Prenton this afternoon following a woman's 'unexplained' death.

Emergency Services were called to West Park Gardens , by Fender Way, at around 11.10am.

A spokeswoman for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm an investigation has been launched following the unexplained death of a woman in Prenton today.

"Emergency services were called to an address in West Park Gardens at around 11.10am.

"A 63-year-old woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"Officers remain in the area to carry out enquiries and a scene is currently in place."

A witness said they noticed an ambulance arrive at the scene first, and when they returned later on in the afternoon police and forensics were also there.

They told ECHO : "When we were here at about twenty past 11 this morning an ambulance was here and when we can back later on more and more police came and forensics."

Forensic investigators were visible taking items from the property, while a walkway between residential properties was cordoned off by police officers.

Police were also seen making door to door enquiries to residents living near the scene.

There is currently no information as to how the woman died or whether any crime has been committed.
