Forensics comb over wreckage of smashed car where man died after mother and daughter stabbed in Kilmarnock

Forensics are combing over the wreckage of a smashed car in Kilmarnock where a 40-year-old man was pronounced dead last night, moments after a mother and daughter were stabbed to death in the town.

Pictures show a team of around 10 forensic officers inspecting a white car which crashed into the side of the C50 in the Ayrshire town.

Police earlier confirmed the 40-year-old male driver was pronounced dead in his car following the serious crash on the C50 between the B7036 and the A76.

The fatal collision occurred moments after mother and daughter Emma Robertson, 39, and Nicole Anderson, 24, died in a stabbing tragedy.

Officers rushed to the scene at Crosshouse Hospital around 7.45pm yesterday where 39-year-old NHS worker Emma Robertson was attacked in the carpark.

Medics tried to save her but she tragically died at the scene.

Her daughter, 24-year-old Nicole Anderson, was stabbed 20 minutes later on Portland Street.
