A 31-year-old man is in hospital with serious face and head injuries following a brutal attack in Glasgow Central station.
British Transport Police and paramedics raced to the station just before 5am on Monday.
Officers set up a cordon in the station to clean up a pool of blood on the concourse.
The man suffered head and face injuries which are 'not deemed life-threatening of life-changing'.
That afternoon a manhunt was launched to trace two men spotted at the scene.
Images show one officer in a hazmat suit using a mop and bucket to wipe up blood that was spilled across from the ticket office.

Meanwhile, a ScotRail worker appears to clean up more mess in the background.
One horrified witness stumbled upon the cordon while on his morning commute, just after 7.30am.
He told the Record: "Someone I know drove past it at 6am and said that's when police and an ambulance first showed up.
"I arrived in Central at 7.40am and spotted the cordon straight away as I entered at the Gordon Street entrance.
"The cordon starts on the right side of the Gordon Street entrance, right up to the ScotRail ticket office, just beside the piano.
"Blood was in the middle of the floor at the cordon, spilled everywhere. The station was very busy at the time.
"There was a few customer service assistants standing around the cordon but no-one would say what was going on."
British Transport Police are treating the incident as a serious assault and are hunting two men they believe could assist with their investigation.
The first man is described as white, in his thirties and of a slim build, with short, dark hair that is shaved at sides.
He was wearing blue ripped jeans, a grey turtle neck jumper and dark shoes with white sole.
The second man is described as white, in his late thirties or early forties and of an average build.
He was wearing blue ripped jeans, a grey ribbed gilet and a black jacket.
Detectives slammed the brutal assault and urge any witnesses to come forward.
DI Marc Francey said: “This was a particularly nasty attack that could have resulted in more severe injuries for the victim and must have caused significant distress to those who witnessed it.
“We are keen to speak to anyone that was in Glasgow Central station or at the taxi rank on Gordon Street between 4am and 5am this morning to assist us with our enquiries.”
“Witnesses, or anyone with information, can contact us by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 65 of 18/03/22. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
The station's concourse has now reopened.
A BTP spokesperson earlier told the Record: "Officers were called to Glasgow Central railway station at 4.45am this morning, March 18, following reports of a serious assault.
"Paramedics also attended, and a man was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for head and face injuries. His injuries are not deemed life-threatening or life-changing.
"A police cordon was in place while officers attended, however the station’s concourse has now been reopened."
The Scottish Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
