Forensic teams sweep street as man found seriously injured in Kilmarnock

A man has been rushed to hospital after being found seriously injured on a Kilmarnock street.

Police attended the scene on Mosshead Road after they were called in the early hours of this morning.

The exact causes of injury are yet to be revealed, but an eyewitness said: "There is police activity round the back of the flats, I'm not sure what's going on though.

"I saw police with gloves going through bins, it looks serious.

"It's hard to tell early but I think they are looking for some sort of weapon."

A police spokeswoman said: "At around 2am on Saturday, April 13 police were called to reports of a 47-year-old man injured on Mosshead Road in Kilmarnock.

"He was taken to Crosshouse Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish exactly how he came about these injuries."
