Forensic officers are currently inspecting the scene on Bold Street following a police incident.

Officers and forensics are in attendance and a number of police cars were also at the scene this morning.

Forensic officers seen on Bold Street appeared to be focussing their efforts on an area outside Liverpool Central station.

Yellow markers were also seen in the middle of the road.

The police cordon starts at the bottom end of Bold Street by Home Bargains with a number of businesses inside the cordon forced to close while officers carry out their investigation.

A security guard at a business on Bold Street said: "I had to walk around to get into work this morning, police were already here at around 9am."

Merseyside Police have been contacted for a comment but, as of writing, no statement has been released.

People are being asked to go around the cordon with officers at the scene describing it as 'serious'.

Officers expect to remain at the scene for the rest of the day.
