Forensic officers comb road after incident which saw it sealed off for hours

Specialist crime scene investigators were seen combing a major road in Rochdale which was closed for several hours on Thursday night.

The nature of the incident remains unclear as Greater Manchester Police have so far declined to comment to the Manchester Evening News for up to 24 hours, despite repeated approaches.

Whitworth Road, which runs north from the town centre, was closed in both directions following the incident at around 8pm on Thursday night, November 19.

A crime scene investigation van was parked at the scene.

Forensic officers were seen by eyewitnesses scouring the area for evidence, and placing markers along the stretch of road.
