Cops are currently combing the house where Stephen Kavanagh was stabbed to death in a bloody killing for evidence.

Forensic gardai arrived at a quiet housing estate in Arklow, Co Wicklow this morning to probe the scene where the 37-year-old was knifed to death.

The technical bureau from Garda headquarters is examining a large number of marks inside the house at The Crescent, Meadowvale.

A garda divisional search team will now hunt the estate and green areas for other potential clues.

He handed himself in to Arklow Garda Station in the early hours of Monday.

The retired couple who own the house and were away at the time of the fatal attack, arrived this morning and tried to get inside.

They pulled up in a black Nissan Xtrail and wound down the window to speak with a Garda, who told them the crime scene was still off bounds.

The couple then drove away.
