Forensic cops return to East Kilbride home after woman allegedly seriously assaulted

Forensic officers are in attendance at a property in East Kilbride today after a woman was allegedly seriously assaulted earlier this week.

Cops confirmed the reported assault on a 40-year-old female within a house on Lyttleton, Westwood at around 5.40pm on Thursday evening.

She was taken to Hairmyres Hospital to be treated for her injuries. Her current condition is unknown.

Officers have returned to the scene for further examination today and say enquiries are ongoing.

He claimed the 'visibly upset' woman was 'wearing a neck brace' and had two black eyes.

He said: "The woman looked in a bad way when I saw her leaving. I don't know if she had been in a fight or if something else had happened to her but she didn't look good.

"She was in a wheelchair, had two black eyes and was wearing a neck brace.

Today, the same source told the Record another local has since reported hearing a woman's screams inside the property.

He said: "A neighbour told me they heard a woman screaming on Thursday."

A Police Scotland Spokesperson said: "Around 5.40pm on Thursday 15 August 2019 we received a report of an alleged serious assault within a property in Lyttleton, East Kilbride.

"A 40-year-old woman was taken to Hairmyres Hospital to be treated for her injuries.

"A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and inquiries are ongoing.
