Forensic cops comb Erskine street where pensioner was found dead

Forensic officers are probing the "unexplained" death of a pensioner in Erskine .

A 83-year-old woman was found dead within a property on Macduff at around 9.55am yesterday.

Cops have taped off a large section of the street as officers in white suits come in and out of the house.

A blue sheet covered a door on the residential road as it was placed on lockdown following the discovery.

It is not known at this stage how the woman died with police confirming a post-mortem will be carried out to determine the exact cause of the death.

Police confirmed the death of the woman is currently being treated as unexplained.

In a statement a spokeswoman said: "At 9.55am on Thursday, July 4 an 83-year-old woman was found dead within a property on Macduff.

"A post-mortem will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death."

"Her death is being treated as unexplained.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
