Fourteen South Korean and three Chinese suspects linked to a major transnational call centre syndicate operated by South Koreans have been arrested.
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) on Monday took the group to a press conference, saying they had caused damages of more than 20.16 billion Korean won (500 million baht) to victims in South Korea.
The suspects had fled neighbouring countries to set up offices in Bangkok condominiums and lived in areas around Rama III and Lumpini.
Pol Lt Gen Natthasak Chaowanasai, CIB chief, said the suspects, aged 27 to 43, were charged with working illegally and overstaying their visas.
The group had previously operated from Cambodia to lure fellow Koreans into fraudulent investment schemes between October 2024 and May 2025.
During the raids, officers also seized 50 VoIP phones, 35 mobile phones, computers, fake prosecutor IDs, forged documents and scam scripts.
In Ayutthaya, police on Monday arrested five Chinese nationals, who are part of a transnational scam network, as they were travelling by vehicle on the Asia Highway.
The driver, a 31-year-old man from Chiang Rai, identified as Narong, was found with the five male passengers.
Mr Narong told police he was hired by a friend known only as "Mai" to pick up the group in Tak's Wang Chao district and to drop them in Pathum Thani. He was promised 5,000 baht per passenger.
All six suspects were charged and handed over to Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya police station.
