Foreigner found dead on Rayong beach identified

RAYONG: The foreigner found dead on Mae Ram Phueng beach on Sunday has been identified by police as an Australian.

Pol Maj Sakol Khamyingyong of Phe police station, said on Monday the manwas Andrew Alec Armaiger, 59, an Australian national.

The body is being kept at Rayong Hospital after an autopsy and his family in Australia has been notified of the death, he added.

The body showed no signs of a physical attack and police said on Sunday that he drowned while swimming off the beach,

Armaiger was found on the beach in Muang district about 7.30am on Sunday.

He was not identified until police checked hotels and resorts in the area and found that he stayed at a hotel near the beach.
