Australian artist Thea Costantino takes on the role of genealogist and historian in her Foreign Soil exhibition, tracing her grandfather’s participation in the war, and reflecting on the legacy of migrant histories that exist alongside the Anzac story. By investigating themes of belonging, estrangement, and the construction of cultural memory, Costantino’s exhibition critiques the political forces shaping the war and its commemoration.
