Foreign rock bands tuned up to import festival vibes

INTERNATIONAL rock bands will finally return to the Hunter with the rescheduled Under The Southern Stars confirmed for March 11.

Hard rockers Cheap Trick will be joined by fellow US bands Stone Temple Pilots and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and English '90s post-grunge band Bush as the first international acts to play in the Hunter since the start of the pandemic.

Australian bands Rose Tattoo and Electric Mary round out the line up.

Due to the Supercars race on March 4 to 6, Under The Southern Stars' tour opener has been shifted from the Newcastle Foreshore to the Maitland Showground.

The nostalgia tour originally featured US band Live and was scheduled for April 2020, but was cancelled due to the pandemic. It was postponed for a second time last April.

All previously purchased tickets are valid for the 2022 festival. Pre-sale begins 9am Friday, followed by the general sale at 9am Monday.
